Sevastopol resident to stand trial in absentia on charges of child abuse and extremist activity

CrimeaPRESS reports:

A 45-year-old Sevastopol resident is accused of sexual crimes against a minor and public calls for extremist activity (clause «b» of Part 5 of Article 132, Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The Investigative Department for the Leninsky District established that in August 2014, the man posted an article on his personal page on a popular social network that contained calls for extremist actions. He, an English tutor, held individual lessons in his office, where in 2015 he committed a number of sexual acts against an 11-year-old girl.

The man subsequently hid from the investigative authorities in another country, and was therefore placed on the international wanted list. The investigation charged him in absentia. The defendant’s criminal activity was revealed during special operations conducted by operatives of the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.— the Investigative Committee reported.

The investigation of the criminal case has now been completed. The materials have been sent to the prosecutor’s office for study, approval of the indictment and referral of the case to court.
