For all admirers of the theater and those familiar with the works of the great classics, the Sevastopol Theater of the Young Spectator proudly presents a unique premiere based on the epic novel by S. N. Sergeev-Tsensky «Sevastopol Strada». One of the actors of the performance will be a real military orchestra, and the stage for the monumental performance will be the stage of the oldest military theater in Russia, the Drama Theater. B. The project “Musical performance-epopee “Sevastopol Strada” is being implemented by ANO RTI “Young Theater” together with the State Budgetary Institution of the City of Sevastopol “Sevastopol Youth Theater” using a grant provided by the NGO “Russian Fund of Culture” within the framework of the federal project “Creative People” of the national project “Culture” .

“Sevastopol Strada” is a large-scale and impressive performance about the First Defense of Sevastopol (1854-1855), an epic tale about the heroes of that time, who to this day delight the world with courage and fortitude. In the performance, Nakhimov, Kornilov, Istomin are, first of all, people who do not separate themselves from ordinary Sevastopol residents, who fully shared the tragic fate of the white-stone city. Next to them in the chronicle of the anxious and heroic days that Sevastopol experienced are the legendary surgeon Pirogov, the first sister of mercy Dasha, the desperate daredevil Pyotr Koshka, the brilliant engineer Totleben, officers, soldiers, faithful sailors — people who give all their strength to protect their native city. The uniqueness of the production is that the grandiose canvas of the performance is created with the accompaniment of a live brass band. He becomes one of the protagonists of the production, together with the heroes of the Defense, experiencing the joys and tragedies of people whose incredible resilience is legendary.

Obvious historical parallels with today will help viewers understand the exciting issues of our time, motivate them to study the history of the Fatherland.

The staging of such a large-scale performance was made possible thanks to grant support from the Russian Cultural Foundation. The epic musical performance based on the work by Sergeyev-Tsensky, created by the team of the Sevastopol Youth Theater together with the Young Theater ANO, will be another gift for the residents of the hero city on the occasion of the 240th anniversary of Sevastopol. For each of us today, productions that support and strengthen moral and cultural values ​​are especially important. We will try to tell the youth in the stage theatrical language how then, back in 1853-1856, incredible courage and steadfastness made the whole world admire our defenders and why Sevastopol is rightfully called «Russian Troy» and «outpost of the south of Russia» — says the honored worker of culture of the city of Sevastopol Andrey Maimusov.
