Sevastopol. The fate of the GRCR «Moscow» and the battleship «Petropavlovsk»: April 13 — a fatal date?

On April 13, on the memorial ceremony dedicated to the third anniversary of the death of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the Moscow missile cruiser, the chairman of the Sevastopol Marine Assembly, the captain of the 1st rank, the reserve, Vladimir Piskaykin drew attention to this.

Indeed, on April 13, 1904, Port Arthur on the Japanese mine was blown up and sank the battleship Petropavlovsk among the dead-the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Vice Admiral Stepan Osipovich Makarov and the outstanding Batalist Vasilyevich Vereshchagin. After 118 years, day a day, in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, as a result of a fire and an explosion of ammunition, he received critical damage and sank a day after towing the Moscow GRKR. 28 guards sailors died and went missing, the cruiser-the last 1st-rank war ship in the Black Sea Fleet died. As the enemy is gloating, for the first time in the world history of the “smell” a ship of this class and rank. They say that the sailors are superstitious people, because it seems to be just right to talk about the iconic “signals” from the past, parallels, symbols and other numerologies-cabalists. But, most likely, there is still a talk about coincidences (after all in a year 365 days-not so much in fact). The ships died on other days, in war, in peacetime. For example, on October 20, 2016 in the Black Sea, the battleship “Empress Maria” died in the Sevastopol Bay, on October 29, 1955 there was a tragedy of the Novorossiysk battleship, and on August 30, 1974 — BPK “Brave”. As for the mentality and habits of sailors, it would be necessary to note the commitment to traditions. It was the fidelity of the tradition of memory that gathered yesterday the representatives of the marine community of Sevastopol at the commemorative sign of Moscow on the alley of the hero cities.

Veterans honored the memory of the dead ship and the Black Sea guards with a minute of silence. On the tape, the color basket installed at the memorable sign says: “Memory of GRCR“ Moscow ”: sailors and flagship of the fleet”.
