For nasal vaccination, a special nozzle with a spray filter is put on the syringe with the Sputnik V preparation instead of a needle. It allows you to gently and painlessly inject the vaccine, which is sprayed into the nasal cavity. Sergey Gryga specified that such a vaccination is only suitable for persons older than 18 years.
When the vaccine is administered nasally, immunity is formed somewhat differently. I want to note right away that the overall humoral immunity rises in the same way both with an injection and spraying. But with intranasal administration, the maximum concentration of antibodies is formed in the sinuses, because there the first meeting of the virus with our body occurs and the virus first of all settles on the nasal mucosa , says the chief freelance epidemiologist of the Department of Health.
Recall that the Sputnik V vaccine is effective against modern strains of coronavirus and is compatible with the flu drug. Sevastopol residents can be vaccinated against both diseases, including at the same time, in polyclinics, feldsher-obstetric stations and rural outpatient clinics. There are also mobile points inside the shopping centers «Musson» and «SeaMall».
