Sevastopol will receive additional money to fight diabetes
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Sevastopol will be allocated additional funds to combat diabetes. They will be used to purchase glycated hemoglobin analyzers for city hospitals No. 4 and 9, which have an assigned population in rural areas. This will increase the accessibility of this type of research for residents of remote areas of the city.
According to the press service of the city government, the order on the allocation of financial resources to the regions for the implementation of the activities of the federal project “Fighting Diabetes Mellitus” was signed by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. The project was developed on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, and its implementation began this year.
Glycated hemoglobin is a combination of red blood cell hemoglobin with glucose. This indicator reflects the average blood glucose level over the current three months. This indicator is used in the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, which is especially important when identifying latent forms of the second type, when a simple determination of glucose in the blood may not reflect the true state of carbohydrate metabolism. Glycated hemoglobin is also used to analyze the quality and effectiveness of glucose-lowering therapy, predict the development of complications, and make decisions about the need to adjust therapysaid the chief freelance endocrinologist of the Department of Health, Olga Vlasova.
Currently in Sevastopol, 16,800 patients diagnosed with diabetes are under observation. The implementation of the new federal project “Combating Diabetes Mellitus” is aimed at early detection of the disease, increasing life expectancy and reducing mortality from complications, and improving the quality of life of patients with this disease.
