Sevastopolets publicly called for extremist activities

Employees of the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol together with colleagues from the Federal Security Service in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as in interaction with the city prosecutor’s office, the illegal activity of a 70-year-old local resident living in Krasnodar was stopped. During the planned monitoring of the Internet space, law enforcement agencies identified numerous extremist publications on his personal page on the social network.
It was established that the suspect for a long time posted on his page on the social network materials with calls for violence on national and regional grounds, physical reprisal against medical workers, and also distributed haters in relation to various ethnic groups.
Sevastopol operatives established the identity of the suspect and during a business trip with the support of colleagues from the CPE of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Krasnodar and fighters of the Sobr Rosgvardiya detained him.
Currently, a criminal case has been instituted against the detainee under part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Public calls for extremist activity”. The sanction of this article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for up to five years.
