SevGU will help train specialists for the reconstruction of Syria
CrimeaPRESS reports:
During the visit of the Russian delegation to the Syrian Arab Republic in October, Sevastopol State University concluded a number of agreements with the universities of this country, which provide for the training of specialists needed to restore the country that suffered during the long-term war. SevSU will help train specialists for the reconstruction of Syria after the war.
Sevastopol State University has been working with Syrian colleagues for several years now, we are the only Russian university that has its representative office in this country — in the city of Tartus. Over the past year, we have been working with colleagues to develop solutions to the problems associated with the restoration of the social and economic sphere. Russia is already helping a lot in training personnel, restoring the almost destroyed education system, including general secondary education. And now we had to complete the formal part of the work: we signed agreements with four Syrian universities , — the press service of the Vice-Rector of SevGU Irina Avdeeva quotes.
During the working trip, agreements were signed with the Private University of Cordoba (Aleppo province), the Private University of Ittihad (Aleppo province), the Private Qalamun University (Damascus province), the Tartu State University (Tartus city).
These agreements provide grounds for the implementation of joint projects — first of all, network educational programs in areas that are priority for Syria and are interesting for us in terms of attracting applicants to bachelor’s and master’s programs. First of all, this is the training of personnel in the field of construction and architecture, school education (first of all, we will help in the training of teachers of the Russian language), the development of historical education and archaeological research, and others. Moreover, we are not talking about distance learning, but about a mixed learning format: after all, it is impossible to prepare, for example, an engineer without practical and laboratory work on equipment , says the Vice-Rector.
According to the Vice-Rector, one of the promising areas of cooperation will be work with the University of Qalamoun. Syrian specialists also proposed a project in the field of cognitive psychology. On the basis of their university clinic — and then in other institutions of the country — it is planned to create a service for special psychological support for patients and employees related to the restoration and maintenance of cognitive health. SevGU is expected to help train staff for such services.
A separate promising area will be cooperation in the training of specialists in the field of energy, including in renewable energy sources. “This is a very promising direction. Syria faces a very ambitious task — to restore the country’s energy, and they are aimed at using alternative sources. First of all, these are solar and batteries. We held talks in Syria, we have already connected our Institute of Nuclear Energy and Industry, and now we are coordinating programs for training specialists at our base, with the participation of Russian manufacturers who plan to work in Syria , emphasizes Irina Avdeeva.
