SevSU has developed an adaptive air suspension and software for the Roadster Krym car
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The adaptive air suspension for the Roadster Krym car and the software for controlling it were developed by the scientists of the Automobile Transport Department within the framework of the Priority 620 program. Adaptive suspension allows the vehicle to adapt to road conditions.
Ground clearance varies depending on road conditions, primarily on the speed of the car: the lower the speed, the higher the clearance for passing obstacles in the form of speed bumps, pits, potholes. The higher the speed, the lower the ground clearance in order to give the car stability on the road, ride smoothness and increase aerodynamic resistance , — the press service of the university quotes Ivan Mishin, engineer of the Department of Road Transport.
The project is unique in that it is a domestic development: domestic components were used and exclusive software was written — flexible software that allows you to configure and optimize the system. To date, no automaker in Russia produces cars with adaptive air suspension.
For the design of the suspension, components of domestic manufacturers were partially purchased, and some of the elements were made on the equipment of the Center for Collective Use «Engineering and Industrial Design» of SevGU: sensor housings responsible for the position relative to the horizontal surface on which the car is located, the front control panel.
The software is made in the programming language for the Arduino platform — Wiring.
Our software allows you to control the air suspension in both manual and automatic modes. If the driver wants to adjust the height manually, he can set any height for each pillar of the car , says Ivan Mishin.
There are five modes of suspension height: from 5 to 17 centimeters, that is, now the «Roadster» can be both a racing car and crossover.
The first and fifth modes are service modes, when the suspension is in the minimum and maximum positions. It is not recommended to use these modes on the go. From the second to the fourth — driving modes , — the scientist notes.
