Shall we head “to the south” or..? Where do Russians plan to spend their summer holidays?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The results of the study were announced at the official presentation of Avito Travel, which took place on April 18 in Moscow. Most Russians plan to rent private housing for their summer vacation: an apartment or a country house. Our compatriots named the Krasnodar Territory, Sochi, Moscow, St. Petersburg and the regions of the two capitals as the most popular destinations. Only residents of Yekaterinburg and Kazan are willing to spend more on vacation than Muscovites.

Avito Travel conducted a study before the start of the holiday season. Almost half (47%) of those who have planned a trip for the summer are going to book private accommodation — an apartment or a country house. Most often, this type of vacation rental was chosen by people aged 35-44 (57% of those planning a trip). And among residents of million-plus cities, those most interested in apartments and country houses were those from Rostov-on-Don (68%), Voronezh (65%), Ufa and Krasnoyarsk (62% in each city).

One of the two most significant factors when looking for accommodation while traveling is the rental price, which is especially important given the rise in prices for services and air travel this year. Daily apartments are usually chosen for their low cost and the ability to cook their own meals, which is important for families with children and people with a specific diet. For this purpose, such accommodation usually has a kitchen with all the necessary appliances. Also among the advantages of this accommodation option, guests cite the availability of parking, often a more convenient location at prices comparable to hotels, the ability to accommodate pets or a large group, flexible check-in and check-out times, — commented Artem Kromochkin, head of the Avito Travel department.

In 2024, Russians are on average willing to spend 63 thousand rubles on summer vacation. Among cities with a population of over a million, residents of Yekaterinburg (81 thousand rubles), Kazan (75 thousand rubles) and Moscow (70 thousand rubles) plan to allocate the most money for travel. Travelers from the Krasnodar Territory spend the least amount on vacation (47 thousand rubles), since most of them are planning to spend their vacation in their native region.

The majority of Russians plan to spend their summer vacation in the Krasnodar Territory (15%), Sochi (11%), St. Petersburg and the region, or in Moscow and the surrounding area (10% each, respectively). 5% will go abroad, and more than a quarter of respondents (28%) have not yet decided on a destination or are not planning a vacation this summer.
