Sheep are sheared in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Alime Zaredinova announced that sheep shearing had begun in Crimea.
In Crimea, about 100 enterprises are engaged in sheep breeding. As of May 1, 2024, the number of sheep and goats in the Republic of Crimea amounted to about 171.5 thousand heads, including 52 thousand heads in agricultural organizations and peasant (farm) farms, and more than 110 thousand heads in households— the press service quotes the acting minister Alime Zaredinova.
According to the acting minister, this year about 11 million rubles are allocated to support the sheep breeding industry in Crimea.
Last year, more than 130 tons of wool were sheared in the republic, including 64 tons of fine wool. We hope that this year the results will be no less. None of the breeds, despite their superiority in hair clipping and wool quality, is able to compete with the Tsigai breed in terms of vitality, reproductive qualities, and adaptability to the climatic conditions of the Republic of Crimeasays Alima Zaredinova.
