Shipping is closed in the area of the stern of the sunken tanker Volgoneft-212

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The next inspection of the sunken stern of the Volgoneft-212 tanker was carried out by divers from the Marine Rescue Service. As the captain of the raid boat “Vodolaz Kuzminykh” Vasily Yakimov said, on the way to the site of the tanker wreck, the water area is checked for the presence of oil products emissions. The place where the stern of the Volgoneft-212 tanker was flooded is marked by a buoy — this part of the vessel lies at a depth of 20 meters, it is located at a distance of approximately 11 kilometers from the coast. On electronic maps the place is marked with navigation signs. The data was transmitted to the hydrographic service by specialists from the Marine Rescue Service, who at the end of December discovered the exact location of the tanker’s stern flooding. At the same time, divers carried out the first inspections of the vessel.

In the near future, special signs will be installed on the water. Yellow cones and a special figure — a top cross — will mean that this section of the water area is closed to the passage of ships over itthe department said in a statement.

In Crimea, Sevastopol and the Krasnodar Territory, work continues to eliminate the consequences of the oil spill that occurred as a result of the collapse of the Volgoneft tankers in the Kerch Strait December 15.
