A folklore research expedition has been completed in Crimea to identify objects of intangible ethnocultural heritage for their further inclusion in the All-Russian register.
The expedition included a candidate of philological sciences, deputy editor-in-chief of the scientific almanac “Traditional Culture” of the State University of Dental Science and Technology named after. Polenova Natalia Kotelnikova, head of the department of video and photographic creativity of the GRDNT named after. Polenova Tatyana Abruzumova, director of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum Yuri Laptev, deputy director of the Center for Folk Art of the Republic of Crimea Nikolai Antyufriev and specialists of the republican institution.
As part of the expedition, four settlements were surveyed, 14 respondents were interviewed during 20 recording sessions. Valuable ethnographic information about the rituals of the calendar and human life cycle, knowledge expressed in objective form, technologies, skills and forms of their presentation associated with ways of life and traditional crafts were obtained.
The following are competing for the title of objects of intangible ethnocultural heritage and possible inclusion in the federal register: Crimean openwork and background filigree (Simferopol), “Tatar Ishleme” — gold embroidery with double-sided satin stitch (Simferopol), «Shetar» — signing a marriage contract — mandatory attribute of family recognition in the wedding rite of the Karaites (Evpatoria), Day of Equal-to-the-Apostles Constantine and Helen — the traditional holiday “Panair” of the Thracian Greeks (Chernopolye village, Belogorsky district), Technology of salting Kerch herring (Kerch)— reported the Ministry of Culture of Crimea.
The folklore research expedition to identify objects of intangible ethnocultural heritage is being implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation within the framework of the national project “Culture”.
Starting from 2022, the Folk Art Center of the Republic of Crimea together with the State Russian House of Folk Art named after. V. D. Polenova conducts annual folklore and ethnographic expeditions to identify and record objects of intangible ethnocultural heritage that are of cultural and historical value both for the Republic of Crimea and for the Russian Federation as a whole. Thus, in October 2022, the expert council decided to include two objects in the All-Russian Register of Cultural Heritage Objects: the Crimean Tatar family ensemble of the Zinadinovs “Katyrsha-Saray”, the folk holiday of the Feodosia Karaites “Aga Dumpa” and the technology for making the traditional holiday dish “Stupech” .
