Simferopol Art Museum opens the first exhibition on a new site

The Simferopol Art Museum has temporarily “moved” to a new site, which is located in the center of the Crimean capital. Its opening will take place on February 20. On this day, the main exhibition of the institution, “Domestic Art of the 18th-20th Centuries,” will be presented here. and the painting exhibition “Bright Mood”. This is reported by Tourist portal of Crimea. Address of the new museum site: st. Odesskaya, 3a. This is the very center of the city — next to the Holy Trinity Monastery and a 5-minute walk from Lenin Square.
On February 20 at 15:00 the first exhibition project will open here — the “Bright Mood” exposition. Visitors will be presented with more than 30 works of painting and graphics of the 19th-20th centuries, which are stored in the museum’s collections.
One of the main themes of the exhibition “Bright Mood” was the study of the role of color in fine art. In the 1820-1830s. a strict color palette predominates in female portraits by Orest Kiprensky, Henri-François Riesener and Alexander Warnek, indicating the strong influence of the academic tradition. A number of watercolor portraits of Alexander Sokolov, Viktor Bobrov and Platon Boryspolets stand out effectively against the background of painting.— said the museum.
The exhibition also includes examples of Russian art from the early 20th century. Guests will see landscapes by Stanislav Zhukovsky and Igor Grabar, still lifes by Ivan and Valentina Mozalevsky, as well as the portrait “Bukhara Bride” by Pyotr Kotov. Among the exhibited paintings are chamber works by Nikolai Barsamov, a representative of the mid-20th century.
In addition, Crimean art of the 1950s-1960s will be presented. These are bright spring landscapes “Young Vineyards” by Olga Dudina, “First Greens” by Fyodor Zakharov and “Aromatic Valley” by Vladimir Sokolov, graphic artist Vladimir Blagoveshchensky and Maria Merkulyeva. There will also be works by post-impressionists written in the 1960-1970s: Stepan Mamchich, Zinovy Filippov, Nikolai Glushchenko and Vladimir Desyatnikov. At the same time, the scale and color of poster art can be observed in the portrait of Gyuzel by the Soviet artist Durdy Bayramov.
