Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don are the most popular destinations among Russians on May 1 — the Spring and Labor Festival. Travel service reports this Tutuwhich analyzed sales of air and railway tickets for the period April 30 – May 1, 2024.

The top 5 air destinations included two capitals: Sochi, Kaliningrad and Mineralnye Vody. The share of passengers to Moscow is 16.5%, to Sochi and St. Petersburg – 7.9% each, to Kaliningrad – 3.7%, to Mineralnye Vody – 3.2%. On the holiday, Russians will also fly to Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Ufa and Tyumen.

Moreover, among specific routes, Moscow — Kaliningrad is in first place, Moscow — Sochi is in second, and Moscow — St. Petersburg is in third. The most popular routes from the Northern capital are: St. Petersburg — Sochi and St. Petersburg — Kaliningrad.

Among foreign countries, Uzbekistan is popular — 21.01% of air tickets were issued there, Turkey — 12.07%, Azerbaijan — 10.47%, Kyrgyzstan — 10.01%, Belarus — 8.94%.

Tutu analysts added that travelers have begun to use the booking service more often — it allows you to fix the price of an air ticket. They also buy tickets with the possibility of a 100% refund if the trip suddenly has to be rescheduled.

On Labor Day, trains will also travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg – 25.4% and 9.2% of train tickets were purchased there, respectively. Also in demand are trips to Krasnodar — 3.8%, Rostov-on-Don — 3.2%, Adler — 2%. The top 10 also included Yekaterinburg, Simferopol, Sochi, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.

Among specific routes, Moscow — St. Petersburg is in first place, Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod is in second, and Krasnodar — Adler is in third.

According to Tutu analysts, the number of train ticket buyers on the app increased by 32%, and the share of train tickets purchased increased by 27%. Travelers are also increasingly looking at train reviews and ratings before deciding to buy a ticket. The number of users who issue a train ticket in advance and pay for it later has also increased.
