Since 2019, the Crimean fish hatchery has released more than 4 million freshwater fish juveniles into reservoirs

Since 2019, employees of the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Crimean Fish Hatchery» have grown and released into the reservoirs of the republic more than 4 million pieces of juvenile freshwater fish: carp, grass carp, silver carp. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk. This year, work on stocking the Crimean reservoirs with fish will take place until the end of May, the company plans to release about a million fry of grass carp and silver carp.

Every year, about a million fry are released into the reservoirs of the Crimea. This year four reservoirs will be stocked with fish: Bakhchisarai, Simferopol, Feodosia and Leninskoe. Such work is carried out within the framework of the state task for growing juveniles of herbivorous fish species: grass carp, silver carp. The event is held in accordance with the program for melioration. In the period from April to May, it is planned to release about 1 million fry grown in the Crimean Fish Nursery into these reservoirs. Today, for example, the Simferopol reservoir was stocked with 50 thousand fry, which were caught in the morning from the reservoirs of our Fish Farm. On the territory of Russia — this is the only enterprise that is owned by the subject of the Russian Federation. It was created back in Soviet times in order to maintain the quantitative and species diversity of the ichthyofauna in the Crimean reservoirs. However, to keep it, in the form in which it works now, due to the blocking of the North Crimean Canal, was worth a lot of work. The leadership of the republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea kept this situation under personal control, the entire technical component was preserved and, most importantly, the staff of the enterprise— commented the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea.

Andrey Savchuk noted that now the nursery continues to fulfill its functions, while annually increasing production and stocking. Thanks to such work in reservoirs, water quality is maintained at the level of sanitary standards, as well as the ecosystem improves, and the cost of water purification for its subsequent use is reduced. In total, there are 22 large reservoirs in the republic with a volume of more than 334 million m3.

Reference: In 2019, thanks to the stocking of Leninsky, Feodosia, Bakhchisarai and Alma reservoirs, more than 600 thousand pieces of carp fish seed, almost 500 thousand pieces of silver carp and grass carp were released — more than 100 thousand pieces. In 2020, when the Leninsky, Feodosia, Izobilnensky reservoirs were stocked with fish, more than 200 thousand pieces of carp fish stock, more than 180 thousand pieces of silver carp, and more than 40 thousand pieces of grass carp were released. In 2021, work was carried out in the Samarly and Station reservoirs. As a result, 180 thousand pieces of carp seed, 80 thousand pieces of silver carp, and 70 thousand pieces of grass carp were produced. Over the past year, the State Budgetary Institution «Crimean Fish Hatchery» carried out work on fishery melioration of water bodies and the maintenance and cultivation of aquaculture objects.
