CrimeaPRESS reports:
With the onset of cold weather, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations conduct preventive raids in which they identify the places of residence of people at risk. The purpose of the next raid in Simferopol is to train citizens at social risk in fire safety measures, prevent fires, death and injuries due to careless handling of fire. Since the beginning of the year, 12 people have died in fires in the Crimean capital, 10 of them were intoxicated, 6 were in difficult life situations.
A special risk group consists of people leading an antisocial lifestyle for various life reasons. These are those who are left without housing and work, who often abuse alcohol and forget about their personal safety and the safety of others. In cold weather, these people find various methods of heating, arrange their lives in abandoned and ownerless buildings, in heating mains and basements. To heat their “home,” they often use homemade heaters, makeshift stoves, or simply light fires on the floor. Thus, citizens without a place of residence often neglect careful handling of fire, which is why they become the initiators of fires, in which they often die— said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea.
There are more than ten such points in Simferopol. Persons without a fixed place of residence live at these addresses. In connection with the onset of cold weather, for the purpose of prevention, the department of supervisory activities in the city of Simferopol conducts raids on the locations of people with antisocial behavior and distributes reminders.
Once again, we remind you of the safety and fire safety rules so that people do not die when heating in unintended places. Such raids are carried out systematically. All objects are under our supervision. In addition, we cooperate with the city administration to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing unsafe areas,” noted Vladimir Baraban, senior investigator of the department of supervisory activities and preventive work for the city of Simferopol.
