Since the beginning of the year, 18 pedestrians have been injured in road accidents on the roads of Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Unfortunately, one person died.
Since the beginning of the year, 18 accidents involving collisions with pedestrians have been registered on the roads of Crimea, in which 1 person was killed and 17 were injured of varying degrees of severity. Three minors were among the victims.
In order to strengthen preventive work to reduce the accident rate and prevent road accidents involving pedestrians, in the period from January 22 to January 31, 2024, in the territory of the Republic of Crimea, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are carrying out a set of preventive measures “Pedestrian. Crosswalk!»— reported the traffic police.
It is emphasized that the main goal of the ongoing operation is to reduce the number of accidents and the severity of their consequences, and to intensify efforts to prevent offenses committed by pedestrians and drivers.
The State Traffic Inspectorate of the Republic of Crimea appeals to all road users:
Drivers should be extremely careful in places where pedestrians may appear on the roadway and remember that in unfavorable weather conditions pedestrians’ visibility may be limited (hood, umbrella, etc.), which can lead to a traffic accident, strictly maintain a safe distance, choose a speed limit taking into account weather conditions.
Pedestrians should also follow the rules of safe behavior on the road:
— be as vigilant as possible in the dark and in bad weather conditions. Before entering the roadway, stop, make sure that there is no traffic, and if there is, the driver sees you and lets you through;
— in the absence of sidewalks, move along illuminated sections of roads and only towards traffic;
— give preference to light-colored clothing and use reflective elements;
— remember that the braking distance of a vehicle on a wet surface, and especially in icy conditions, increases significantly.
