Since the beginning of the year, 8 people have died on water bodies in Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, since the beginning of the year, 11 accidents have occurred on water bodies in Crimea, where 8 people died and 2 were saved. The main cause of the tragedies is swimming while intoxicated, as well as in places not equipped for recreation.

To prevent accidents, since June 12, in the cities of Alushta, Evpatoria, Feodosia and the village of Peschanoye, Bakhchisarai district, GIMS inspectors, together with diving and rescue groups of the Specialized detachment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, have been carrying out preventive measures and patrolling the coastal waters in places of public gathering and recreation of people— said the emergency department.

During patrols, rescuers monitor the general situation on the water, provide the population with information about the rules of conduct, as well as safety measures when swimming and relaxing on the beach. If violations are detected on the part of navigators and operators of beach areas, administrative measures are applied.

Since the beginning of the year, the inspectors of the GIMS center have carried out 566 surveillance and 65 preventive patrols. 55 administrative offenses identified— the rescuers clarified.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds:

  • the number of vests must correspond to the number of people in the boat or on the boat during the boat trip;
  • use water attractions (excursions on boats, kayaks, cheesecakes, bananas, rental of boats and jet skis) only from licensed organizations;
  • do not operate a watercraft while intoxicated;
  • a child under 12 years of age must wear a life jacket at all times on the open deck;
