Since the beginning of the year, more than 60 fires associated with the ignition of dry vegetation have been extinguished in Crimea. “A fresh example” — a forest litter fire in the Simferopol region
Yesterday at 13:25, the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea» received information about the fire of dry vegetation in the area of the village. Pionerskoye, Simferopol district. The duty unit of the PCh village promptly went to the scene of the incident. Dobroye State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea» consisting of 3 people and 1 unit. technicians, employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Republic of Crimea, as well as the Simferopol forestry enterprise.
Upon arrival, firefighters learned that the forest floor was on fire. There is a threat of fire spreading to the forest area. Crimean firefighters using firecrackers, Ermak backpacks and specialized equipment began extinguishing the fire— reported the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea.
The extinguishing was complicated by the difficult terrain and strong gusty winds, which constantly changed its direction and contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Thanks to the prompt and coordinated actions of firefighters, further spread of the fire was avoided. Within 2 hours the fire was localized and extinguished. The area did not exceed 500 square meters. There were no casualties. The reasons are being clarified by experts. In total, 17 people were involved in extinguishing the fire from the RSChS forces.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea recommends strictly following fire safety rules:
— do not make fires or use open fire;
— do not burn garbage, dry vegetation and other waste;
— clear your own plots and the surrounding area from dry vegetation by sorting waste — not burning it;
— Do not allow children to play with matches.
