Specialists of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations of Sevastopol completed an annual complex of works on demining the territories of Donbass
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The combined detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has completed a complex of works on demining the territories of Donbass, planned for 2023. The sappers returned home — the pyrotechnics of the Specialized Detachment of the Sevastopol Emergency Department also arrived in their native land. They are participants in the third, final this year, business trip to the zone of a special military operation. The meeting in the Sevastopol unit was warm, joyful, and touching. Finally, you can hug your family and friends, shake hands with your colleagues.
We have something to be proud of. This means hundreds of lives saved, hundreds of hectares covered so that people can live calmly and safely in these territories. The procedure was as follows: the first mission lasted 80 days, then the personnel changed, worked for 60 days, then another rotation — for 75 days, – the press service quotes Colonel of the Internal Service, Head of the Specialized Detachment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol Nikolai Tiselsky.
The combined detachment included representatives of the Specialized detachment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, the Center for carrying out special risk rescue operations “Leader”, the Don and Noginsk rescue centers. The third team in Donbass examined almost 340 hectares of territory mechanically and almost 225 hectares manually. As a result of these works, more than 4,000 explosive objects were discovered and neutralized. Three quarters of the finds were engineering ammunition — anti-personnel and anti-tank mines. Some sappers were prompted by patriotic duty to remain “behind the belt” for two rotations in a row. Gennady Rumyantsev, driver-sapper of the Specialized Detachment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, spent five months in the DPR without a week.
In Sevastopol, we mainly deal with ammunition from the Great Patriotic War, they were all touched by hand. And there we work with modern samples, all this is new for us, but we are mastering it quickly. This kind of work, of course, is addictive. Now we’ve arrived in Crimea, but because we’re not used to pulling into and out of the roadside, we’re afraid to walk with our feet, – notes warrant officer of the internal service Gennady Rumyantsev.
All Sevastopol employees returned home in good health. However, it cannot be denied: it was a most dangerous job that was performed to the limit. In conditions of spring thaw, forty-degree summer heat, and chilly autumn dampness, wearing heavy equipment, meter by meter sappers checked agricultural land, energy and transport infrastructure facilities, and eliminated minefields. We continuously exchanged experience and improved our skills. Fighting continued nearby at this time.
Such business trips help to unite and meet many new people. You pick up some things from them, and teach them some things yourself. Our system is large, it is not limited to one city, so we are friends with the whole country, — the deputy head of the pyrotechnic and special diving unit of the Specialized detachment of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, internal service captain Sergei Ivanov, is sure.
The mission to clear mines from the Donbass lands has been carried out by the combined detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations since 2022, and it is planned to continue it in 2024. Sevastopol sappers are ready to take an active part in upcoming events.
