Specialists of the Sevastopol Veterinary Department remind about measures to prevent African swine fever
CrimeaPRESS reports:
African swine fever (ASF) is a particularly dangerous disease of domestic pigs and wild boars. A vaccine against ASF has not been developed and treatment is not effective. The mortality rate of pig livestock reaches 100%.
It is very important that each owner complies with the requirements of veterinary legislation. This is one of the determining factors of epizootic well-being in the region, as well as the veterinary safety of meat products— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the veterinary department Nikolai Dmitriv.
To prevent the disease in Sevastopol, mandatory laboratory tests and sampling of pigs and wild boars are carried out.
We remind city residents and animal owners to strictly implement the following measures to prevent and prevent the spread of the disease:
- do not allow pigs to roam freely, keep them indoors;
- Do not feed uncooked food waste to pigs;
- do not purchase animals and feed without accompanying veterinary documents;
- do not allow unauthorized persons to visit pig breeding premises;
- immediately report all cases of illness and death of pigs to the state veterinary service;
- regularly disinfect pig breeding premises, treat pigs against blood-sucking insects (ticks, lice, fleas), and carry out rodent control;
- If animals become sick or corpses of pigs and wild boars are discovered, immediately notify the state veterinary service.
If you suspect African swine fever, immediately contact the Veterinary Department Hotline by phone: +7 (978) 300-91-40 or the State Budgetary Institution “Sevvetcenter” by phone: +7 (978) 300-95-65.
