St. Andrew's flags were consecrated in the Black Sea Fleet

In Sevastopol, on the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, in the Vladimir Cathedral — the tomb of the admirals, the rite of consecration of the St. Andrew’s flags of ships, boats, support vessels, coastal and aviation formations and units of the Black Sea Fleet was held.
The event was attended by: the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, commanders of naval formations, marines and naval aviation, representatives of the crews of ships and auxiliary vessels of the fleet.
The church service was led by the dean of the Sevastopol district, Archpriest Sergius Khalyuta, who served a prayer service to the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, blessed St. Andrew’s flags and presented them to ship commanders and captains of auxiliary vesselsreports the press service of the Southern Military District.
After the consecration of the flags, the dean of the Sevastopol district presented the commander of the Black Sea Fleet as a gift from the residents of the city with the “Victory” icon, and the commander of the fleet presented letters of gratitude to the townspeople who provide active assistance and support to the military personnel taking part in the special military operation.
The tradition of consecrating ship flags in the Black Sea Fleet was resumed in 1997 after the raising of St. Andrew’s flags on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet, which took place on June 12, 1997.
