Statistics: In Sevastopol, prices for vegetables and eggs decreased

Specialists of the Department of Agriculture and the Consumer Market conducted weekly monitoring prices for socially significant products in Sevastopol. Under the control of the Department, the issue of compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding, signed in 2020 between the Government of Sevastopol with the city’s retail chains. Its participants are: “Apple”, “Fresh”, “Pud”, “Boom”, “Uyutsriy”, “Leader”, “Wild honey”, “7M without price”, “5m gourmet”, “4m”. Participants in the agreement voluntarily establish a minimum or zero trading margin (from 0% to 15%) for a list of socially significant goods.

The cost of a “borscht set”, which includes beets, potatoes, carrots, has decreased by more than 10%. Chicken eggs, salt and sugar also fell in price. A slight increase in prices is observed for cucumbers, tomatoes and apples, which is constantly observed in the conditions of the start of harvesting,-quoted the press service of the Government of Sevastopol as the head of the department of analysis, forecasting the organization of trade of the department Alexander Shcherbinin.

On behalf of the governor this year, a list of socially significant goods was expanded from 23 to 46 items. Now it includes not only food, but also baby food, toothpaste, hygiene and household chemicals. The number of outlets participating in the program increased to 109.

The goods sold within the framework of the memorandum are easy to determine by bright light blue price tags with the inscription «memorandum» or special wobblers. Also in each store there is a “buyer’s corner” with a list of these goods highlighted with a light blue color.

The Department of Agriculture and the Consumer Market noted that the restriction of the trade allowance helps to prevent unreasonable increase in prices, which is especially important for socially unprotected segments of the population.

The weekly monitoring of prices and the fulfillment of the conditions of the memorandum contributes to the stability and accessibility of the value of basic goods in Sevastopol. Memorandum products are in high demand among the population, a fruit and vegetable group, dairy products, eggs, vegetable oil, pasta and salt are especially popular.
