According to the results of the first half of 2023, Turkey became the most popular country for buying a home among Russians — it accounted for 27% of demand. Anna Larina, director of the foreign real estate department at NF Group, spoke about this at the conference with reference to the requests of buyers that come to the company. In second place is the United Arab Emirates (22%), third place was taken by Cyprus (17%), according to NF Group data. Fourth place belongs to Spain, which accounted for 11% of demand. Grenada closes the top five with a share of demand of 7%. For comparison, in 2022, the top 5 most popular countries for buying property from Russian buyers were Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Portugal and Greece.

The top 10 countries in 2023 also included Indonesia (5%), Vanuatu (3%), France (3%), USA (3%) and Italy (2%).
According to her, 67% of potential buyers considered purchasing a home abroad in order to obtain a residence permit or a second citizenship. In the first half of 2023, the immigration programs of Turkey, Cyprus and Grenada became the most popular. Another 16% of buyers choose property for investment, the most popular countries in this category are Indonesia, Cyprus and Turkey. About 15% of requests are for buying a house for their own residence, the top countries among these requests include Turkey, Cyprus and Spain.
Previously, the top 10 countries where Russians buy housing for a residence permit in 2023 were named. According to Tranio, the top country in which Russians most often considered buying property to obtain a residence permit or citizenship in 2023 was Turkey, with 21% of demand. In second place among the countries where Russians choose real estate for residence permits and passports is Cyprus. This country accounted for 17% of applications in 2023. Spain then closed the top three with a share of demand of 13%.
