Stove heating is a source of danger: the Ministry of Emergency Situations conducts raids in Sevastopol

With the onset of cold weather, the number of fires in everyday life increases due to improper operation of stove equipment. There has already been such a case in Sevastopol: on October 20, a fire broke out in a private house at the Katyusha gardening partnership; a cabinet placed close to the chimney caught fire.

To prevent such incidents, Sevastopol employees of the supervisory body of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia conduct raids as part of Operation Heating. Regular preventive visits were carried out at gardening associations in the Nakhimovsky district.

Emergency department specialists reminded residents using stove heating systems about fire safety rules. Draw people’s attention to factors that can lead to undesirable consequences. Citizens tried to eliminate such circumstances immediately, in the presence of an employee of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations: for example, they removed flammable objects further from the stoves.

It is prohibited to operate stoves and other heating appliances without fireproof cuttings and pre-furnace sheets made of non-combustible material measuring at least 0.5 by 0.7 meters. Ovens must not be overheated. Faulty stoves are not allowed to be used. They should not be left unattended, nor should children be supervised by them. The heating of stoves must be stopped at least 2 hours before going to bed, – lists the basic safety rules by Lieutenant Colonel of the Internal Service, chief specialist of the territorial department of supervisory activities and preventive work of the Directorate of Supervisory Activities and Preventive Work of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, Alexander Lazarev.

Raids as part of Operation Heating in Sevastopol continue and will be conducted throughout the autumn-winter period.
