Strawberry harvest continues in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, three enterprises collect strawberries: the Artvin joint-stock company with a greenhouse area of 6 hectares, the Savitskaya peasant farm with a greenhouse area of 0.15 hectares, and the Juicy Yagoda family farm with a greenhouse area of 3 hectares.
In total, city enterprises plan to collect more than 120 tons of strawberries from an area of 10 hectares in 2024, of which 100 tons will be collected at the Artvin enterprise.
Historically, Sevastopol specialized in growing grapes. Therefore, we are actually very glad that now there is a new stage of development in the city — these are greenhouse strawberry farms. Over the past three years we have been harvesting a wonderful harvest. Today, the program for the development of agriculture in Sevastopol provides for two directions. There is an “Agrostartup” grant for young farmers. The day before, we summed up the results of the Agrostartup for the current year. Three winners were chosen, but in slightly different directions. Nevertheless, one of the enterprises of the future is vegetable products. Therefore, I would like to say that this mechanism works with government support. Last year’s harvest has already given us figures of around 80 tons of strawberries from an area of 10 hectares. This year the figure is already increasing — more than 120 tons are planned to be collected. This is how berry production in Sevastopol is gradually increasing every year“e,” the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Natalia Skoryukova, director of the department of agriculture and consumer market.
To date, farmers have already collected more than 52 tons of berries.
