Street photo exhibition «Catastrophe on the Dnieper» opened in Simferopol

The exhibition features 10 stands that refer to the tragic events that took place on June 6, 2023, in the Kherson region. On this day, the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was destroyed by shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as a result of which Nova Kakhovka, Hola Prystan, Oleshky and 20 other settlements were flooded. The terrible tragedy led to dozens of victims, an environmental disaster and enormous damage. The water destroyed and made more than 23 thousand households uninhabitable. As a result of the flood, 59 people died, 175 residents were hospitalized.
This exhibition tells about the scale of the emergency, its consequences, and also about the assistance provided to the population of the flooded territories by the Republic of Crimea.
To provide assistance to the emergency zone, the relevant forces of ministries and departments were promptly sent. Rescuers evacuated residents who found themselves in the flood zone. Life support services, in turn, carried out work to pump water out of the adjacent territories, ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. Great assistance was also provided in delivering humanitarian supplies, — the press service quotes the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Sadakliev.
The photographs for the exhibition were provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea, the head of the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Metropolitanate, Archpriest Dmitry Krotkov (most of them from his personal archive), the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, the State Veterinary Committee, and the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Crimea “Voda Kryma”.
The exhibition was prepared to draw attention to these tragic events, so that people would realize how big the scale of the disaster was and not forget it. And also to popularize the rescue profession, attract citizens to volunteer activities and patriotic education of youth.notes Sergey Sadakliev.
