Strengthening the shore on the northern side of Sevastopol will begin in three years

The area from Cape North Spit to Cape Tolstyak is initially susceptible to negative landslide processes. Since last year, work has been underway there to lay a gas pipeline, due to which a significant amount of soil has been removed from this territory, after which local residents began to sound the alarm: landslide processes have intensified. The deputies asked Yu. Gavrilova how long it would take to carry out restoration and strengthening work on this dangerous section of the coast?

The head of Sevprirodnadzor confirmed that the department carried out serious research in this area, and leading specialists from five city institutes were involved in the work.

A concept for coastal protection of the northern part of our coast was drawn up and dangerous processes were predicted for the next 50 years. Scientists have tried to model mathematically where the most vulnerable areas are, where strengthening is necessary, and where, on the contrary, intervention is unacceptable. This concept was presented to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation, and the Federation Council. Based on the results of consideration and discussion with federal colleagues, this event was included in the program of socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. The work is now planned outside the budget process, which is designated for 2027-2028. But it is very important that the survey data is taken into account in the development of the general plan and land use and development rules— said Yu. Gavrilova.

According to her, the complex work carried out by specialists was supported by federal authorities.

Bank protection work is quite expensive, but we are provided with funds, — the head of the environmental department clarified.
