The promotion has been implemented since 2018 and is being held for the seventh time. It is aimed at developing volunteerism, popularizing reading and replenishing the collections of libraries of children’s institutions of the Republic of Crimea. Anyone could join the action; it was enough to find a children’s book in good condition, write wishes and transfer it to the headquarters of student groups of the Republic of Crimea. This year a record number of participants took part in the event — 1,812 people. Most of them are students and schoolchildren. Separately, I would like to highlight the activity of the children from the student self-government of schools in the Bakhchisarai and Simferopol regions. Students at Bakhchisaray city school No. 5, Vilinskaya, Dolinenskaya, Kashtanovskaya, Kuibyshevskaya, Mazanskaya, Plodovskaya, Pochtovskaya, Skalistovskaya schools helped collect most of the children’s books. Heads of schools, universities and colleges very willingly joined the action, thereby setting an example for students in educational organizations.

On February 14, all collected books were transferred to the libraries of the Lozova boarding school in the Simferopol district, the Yolochka children’s home in Simferopol, and the Chernyshevsky orphanage in the Razdolnensky district.

I think that the “Give a Book to a Child” campaign shows how kind people are around us, and they are eager to help those who need it. Every year there are more and more of them. Last year we collected more than 1,500 books, and this year our campaign has grown, and we have been able to collect more than three thousand children’s books, which indicates the desire of Crimeans to help children gain access to knowledge through bookssays the commander of the student pedagogical detachment “Condor” Angelina Radchenko.
