CrimeaPRESS reports:

Leading Russian scientist in the field of marine geology Grigory Akhmanov represented the Institute for Advanced Study (IPR) of Sevastopol State University on the seventh expedition of the international scientific and educational project «Floating University on Baikal». This was reported by the press service of SevGU.

He paved the way for SevGU, and next year our students will go on an expedition to the floating university to Baikal , — said Maxim Evstigneev, director of the IPI.

This year, an important result of the scientific trip was the acquisition of silt samples from the bottom of the lake and new data on the mechanisms of eruptions of Baikal mud volcanoes, which will further expand scientific knowledge about Lake Baikal.

The expedition was attended by representatives of five Russian universities, including Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University
.

Recall that the movement of “floating universities” has been actively developing in recent years with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. This year the expeditions should go not only to Baikal and the Barents, Kara and Black Seas, but also to the Baltic and the Far East.
