Study: remote work and mass layoffs of employees — 2023

CrimeaPRESS reports:

According to a new study from Envoy, 80% of executives regret their initial decisions to return to the office and say they would have approached their plans differently if they had better understood the consequences of their decisions.

According to a study conducted by the Russian recruiting company Get Experts, the possibility of remote work over the past five years has risen from 9th place in the list of non-material motivation factors to first place.

Of course, remote work has become an advantage for employers, and job seekers give priority to those companies that offer this format. However, as practice shows, remote work has its own pitfalls: employee engagement drops, it is difficult to maintain team spirit, and it is difficult to achieve the same goals. And that’s why our staff turnover is increasing.,” notes Olga Shamber, CEO of Get experts.

We officially returned to the office a while ago, but remained flexible. Employees can, if necessary and by agreement with their line manager, take separate days when they work remotely. However, this is not a key factor in deciding whether to work in a communications company. One of the key motivations in our field is the team; people care about who they work with. In addition, clients expect creative solutions from us, the best of which are born in face-to-face discussions. Therefore, our experience shows that working from an office has many advantages for both business and employees,” explains the general director of the CROS agency, Ekaterina Movsesyan.

Roman Mandrik, CEO of HR-tech company Skill Cup, agrees that managers in most companies are convinced that live interaction is more effective. However, employees are not eager to return to offices; for many, forced return is a serious demotivator. “The majority of office workers want to maintain the option of hybrid or remote work, and at least half are willing to change jobs to achieve this. It is much easier for employers with a hybrid and remote schedule to attract candidates, despite the fact that salaries for such vacancies are usually 10-20% lower than “office” salaries,” the expert adds. He is sure that there is now a conflict between the interests of the employer and the candidate, which is resolved by the introduction of IT tools that help maintain employee engagement, regardless of where they work from — corporate instant messengers, microlearning services, social networks.
