Suspect in theft of six phones from park workers detained in Sevastopol

As a result of operational and investigative measures, the criminal investigation officers detained the suspect. He turned out to be a 39-year-old local resident who noticed the phones left unattended and decided to take advantage of the carelessness of their owners. He confessed to the crime and said that he managed to sell two stolen smartphones. The criminal’s illegal activity was recorded by a CCTV camera installed in the cash register— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under paragraphs. “b” and “c” part 2 art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
