Suspects of drug trafficking and illegal possession of ammunition were detained in Saki

Employees of the drug control department and the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs «Saki» carried out a number of operational activities, as a result of which they stopped the activities of two residents of the Saki district involved in committing a number of drug crimes. As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea, 29 and 37-year-old men purchased drugs via the Internet, took them from hiding places for the purpose of further sale. Police officers caught the suspects selling the synthetic drug mephedrone in single doses of 0.10 grams to two “buyers,” which prompted the beginning of an investigation and searches.

During a personal search of the 37-year-old suspect, in the pockets of his jacket, investigators found a paper parcel with a dried plant substance with a specific odor and a polymer bag with a white powdery substance. The man confirmed that these were drugs from a cache intended for subsequent sale. According to the examination, the substances seized from the citizen were the narcotic drugs “Salt Crystals” weighing 0.5 grams and marijuana weighing 2 grams— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

In addition, in the house of the attacker, the police found 13 cartridges for a hunting rifle, for which administrative liability is provided under Part 1 of Article 20.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Violation of the rules for storing weapons and ammunition.”

During a search in the home of the second defendant, investigators seized a homemade drug device, as well as two shells from the Great Patriotic War. The man explained that he found ammunition in the forest.

The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Saksky” initiated criminal cases against the 37-year-old suspect on the grounds of crimes under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 3 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Attempted sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances on a large scale” and Part 1 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.” The suspect could face up to 20 years in prison.

In relation to the 29-year-old suspect, the investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saksky» initiated criminal cases on the grounds of crimes under Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Illegal storage of explosive devices» and Part 1 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.» The perpetrator may face up to 8 years in prison,” the Crimean police clarified.

Currently, both suspects are being held in a temporary detention center in accordance with Art. 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation on suspicion of committing crimes.
