Tauride Chersonese invites you to the exhibition “Russian Atlantis”

Tomorrow, February 14, in the hall of temporary exhibitions of the Byzantine exposition, paintings by participants in the International Plein Air Exhibition Project “Russian Atlantis” will be shown. Tauride Chersonesus more than once became his creative and ideological platform. Visitors to the exhibition will see more than 40 paintings and graphic works depicting St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, the Basilica of 1935, the defensive walls of the ancient city, the Byzantine courtyard, the Foggy Bell, rocky shores and reflections on the waves of Pontus Euxine at dawn, at sunset and even at night.
“Russian Atlantis” is a unique non-profit project organized jointly with the Union of Artists of Russia and the St. Petersburg Center for Humanitarian Programs. It unites many talented painters into a creative union, promotes the study and recreation of images of historical monuments of small towns in Russia. During the existence of the project, more than 100 artistic expeditions were organized in the territory from the Baltic to Lake Baikal, as well as in the Kuban, Novorossiya and Crimeareports the press service of the State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve.
Chersonese Tauride with its holy places and archaeological monuments, gentle and stormy sea, the romance of ancient and medieval buildings in 2024 for the third time will become the center of attraction for painters of the “Russian Atlantis”. Over the previous two seasons, they captured many of the sights of the ancient city, which contains the origins of our Orthodox history, filled with amazing energy and beauty. The bright, magical colors of Chersonesus, combined with the high professionalism of the artists, brought wonderful results. The best paintings created in the open air will be presented at the exhibition “Russian Atlantis”.
Visitors to the museum-reserve will see more than 40 paintings depicting the sights of Tauride Chersonesus, as well as authentic archaeological objects, without which a holistic perception of the image of this city is unthinkable: antique amphorae, fragments of marble capitals, reliefs and slabs with ancient writings.
The opening of the exhibition “Russian Atlantis” will take place on February 14 at 15:30. You can view it until March 18 in the temporary exhibition hall of the Byzantine Exposition, from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. Entrance ticket – 50 rubles.
