Tauride Chersonesos invites you to celebrate Easter

The Holy Resurrection of Christ falls on May 5 this year. According to tradition, on this day in Chersonese Tauride — the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy — the family festival “Easter Art Alley” will be held.

Its organizers will be the museum-reserve, the My History Foundation and the St. Vladimir Monastery in Chersonesos. From 10:00 to 14:00, festival visitors will be treated to themed photo zones, open-air exhibitions, master classes, concerts and much more. It will be interesting for everyone! On May 5, the museum-reserve will be filled with the atmosphere of the bright Easter holiday. Near the entrance, not far from the Zeno Tower, visitors will be greeted by a bright photo zone. There you can take family photographs as a keepsake. Then, walking along the peribol, guests will view the “Symbols of Easter” stand exhibition, which will end with another festive photo zone.

From the very morning on the central street of Tauride Chersonesus, the charity fair “City-Kulich”, presented by the bakery “Sevastopol Gingerbread”, will begin its work. For visitors to the museum-reserve, master classes will be organized on painting gingerbread and rolls, as well as on preparing caramel apples. Both kids and older children will be able to take part in the children’s game program “Easter Fun”, which will take place behind the Mint.

But on May 5, guests of Tauride Chersonesos will have the opportunity to show not only their culinary talents! From 10:00 to 13:00, master classes on making Easter magnets, textile and wooden toys and bead bracelets will be organized on the main street of the ancient city. Also, everyone will be able to learn how to work on a potter’s wheel, sculpt from clay or lay out glass mosaics.

Younger guests will be interested in coloring Easter eggs in the art alley on the main street of the museum-reserve. Older visitors will be able to take part in the “Music of Watercolor” master class, which will take place on the observation deck near the northern shores of the fort. The accompanying sounds of the violin, cello and flute will help you get in the mood for the lesson.

The Easter Art Alley festival will bring special joy to music lovers! From 10:00 to 12:00 in the Byzantine courtyard of Chersonesos there will be a concert “The Bright Resurrection of Christ”, at which the ensembles “Rus” and “Play Harmony!” will perform. On the observation deck, everyone will be able to take a lesson in playing the gusli, and their teachers will be the soloists of the Volga Guslar ensemble. At the end of the holiday there will be a “Light Concert” of the pop-jazz orchestra, which will begin at 13:00 in the Antique Theater of the museum-reserve.
