Tavricheskaya Theological Seminary announces recruitment for the new 2024/2025 academic year

Taurida Theological Seminary – one of the oldest theological educational institutions in Taurida, whose main task is to train clergy.

The theological school on the Crimean peninsula was founded in 1873 by the efforts of the famous preacher, Saint Gury (Karpov), Archbishop of Taurida. After the revolution of 1917, the seminary was closed, and the history of the restoration of the theological school in Simferopol began in 1992. In 2006, the former theological school received the status of a seminary.

Education at the Tavricheskaya Theological Seminary is based on the federal state educational standard 48.03.01 “Theology” and the church standard “Training of ministers and religious personnel of religious organizations.”

According to the tradition of education in theological schools, special attention in the Taurida Theological Seminary is given to courses in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, dogmatic, moral, comparative, pastoral theology, liturgics, church history. Students also study the heritage of the Holy Fathers, general humanities, ancient and modern languages.

In addition, special attention is paid to pastoral subjects, which are key in the system of training future priests. The curriculum of the theological school is designed in such a way that throughout the entire period of study, students learn more and more about all aspects of pastoral service.

— Pastoral theology;
– Orthodox asceticism: the teaching about passions and virtues;
– Fundamentals of Christian family life;
– Fundamentals and features of the family life of a clergyman;
– Practical experience of outstanding pastors of the Orthodox Church of the XIX-XXI centuries;
– The pastoral legacy of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Taurida.

These disciplines are aimed at mastering the centuries-old pastoral experience of the Orthodox Church. Within the framework of the listed subjects, students learn about the ministry of a priest, the paths of missionary work, forms of spiritual care and much more.

Tavricheskaya Theological Seminary announces recruitment for the new 2024/2025 academic year

Today, the Tauride Seminary has formed a remarkable teaching and professorial corporation from among teachers and scholars from Simferopol and Sevastopol, as well as clergy from the Crimean Metropolitanate.

The Tauride Theological Seminary accepts male Orthodox Christians with secondary or higher education, single or married for the first time, and who have no canonical obstacles to ordination to the priesthood.

Education, accommodation and meals at the Taurida Theological Seminary are free.

The acceptance of documents and entrance examinations for admission to full-time education in 2024 are carried out on the following dates:

  • submission of documents: June 1 – July 31, 2024;
  • Arrival of applicants: July 31, 2024;
  • Entrance examinations: August 1–3, 2024.

The acceptance of documents and entrance examinations for admission to correspondence courses in 2024 are carried out within the following timeframes:

  • submission of documents: June 1 – July 19, 2024;
  • Entrance examinations: July 22–24, 2024.
