The educational program “Talents of the South of Russia” is taking place at the site of the Tavrida art cluster from September 5 to 11. As part of the art school of contemporary painting and research activities in the field of art, young creators not only get acquainted with current trends, but also improve their author’s technique, inspired by Crimean landscapes. Thus, the participants had a field trip to the village of Novy Svet on the shore of the Black Sea bay of Sudak-Liman.
Some of the participants have already decided on the theme of their work and are preparing it for the final exhibition. Others continue to seek inspiration by trying different techniques in the open air. The Tavrida.ART site offers many locations with views of the pristine nature of Crimea: the bright blue sea in Kapsel Bay, the majestic capes Meganom and Alchak, the valley of autumn-yellow hills, the picturesque profile of the Takluk Mountains. Having mastered the local landscape, the young creators went out for the whole day to get new ideas in one of the most picturesque villages near the city of Sudak — Novy Svet. The resort is notable for its incredibly beautiful nature, magnificent views, picturesque bays and a sea of different colors.
For an artist, plein air is an absolutely necessary thing. An artist is a researcher; he needs to communicate directly with nature. The plein air is designed for us to work with nature. We went to the natural environment of southern Russia. It was useful to move away from the endless movement of “Tavrida,” commented on the departure of young painters to the New World Valentina Sergeeva, artist, teacher of the MAAU, teacher of the State Budgetary Educational Institution of Children’s Art School “Phoenix”.
In the open air, everyone finds their own tasks — their choice, given the number of inspiring locations in the village, is huge: the picturesque Golitsyn Trail, a grotto, bays and beaches, a relict juniper grove. It is possible to submit only one painting for the final exhibition, so after a walk around the village, each participant chose the most beautiful spot to work for the whole day.
As part of the educational visit of the art school of contemporary painting and research activities in the field of art, practicing artists conduct master classes in drawing and painting for young creators, show how to work from life, and provide opportunities for experimentation in the field of contemporary art. Young painters are told why it is important to know the history of art, how academic art and modern artistic techniques come together, and how to integrate this knowledge into their work.
Also, as part of the training, a dialogue between young critics and experts is planned to exchange knowledge about the current state of art criticism in the country and about the possibilities of promoting their projects today with the help of competent concepts and texts.
The art school of contemporary painting and research in the field of art is taking place as part of the sixth educational race of the 2023 season — “Talents of the South of Russia”. The visit is part of specialized educational programs aimed at meeting the needs of various regions of the country. The program of the “Talents of the South of Russia” included 6 art schools: an art school of architecture and design, an art school of cultural management, an art school of social and entrepreneurial projects, an art school of contemporary painting and research in the field of art, art a school of local brands and an art school of aesthetic education. Throughout the week, young creators have been developing projects to preserve cultural identity, historical memory and the community of the peoples of Russia.
