More than 740 thousand rubles were stolen from pensioners.
The prosecutor’s office of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol sent a criminal case to court against couriers of “telephone” scammers who stole more than 740 thousand rubles from pensioners.
The prosecutor of the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol, Alexander Gogolev, approved the indictment in a criminal case against two local residents born in 2002 and 2004. They are accused of participating in “telephone” fraud, that is, committing crimes under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, including on a large scale),” reports the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.
According to investigators, the accused entered into a criminal conspiracy in the Internet messenger with unidentified persons engaged in fraudulent activities. Fraudsters disguised as daughters or granddaughters called elderly women and said in an excited voice that they urgently needed money because they had committed a traffic accident. After this, young people came to the defrauded pensioners and took their money. They transferred some of the stolen goods to their accomplices, and kept some for themselves.
Thus, in March 2023, four elderly residents of Sevastopol suffered damage totaling over 740 thousand rubles.
Police officers detained the couriers while transferring money to accomplices.
The investigation was carried out by the investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol. Money seized from the accused, totaling more than 460 thousand rubles, has already been returned to the victims during the investigation.noted the supervisory agency.
The prosecutor’s office sent the criminal case to the Nakhimovsky District Court of Sevastopol for consideration on the merits. The case materials regarding other group members have been separated into separate proceedings.
