The 15th shift has ended at the International Children's Center. Artek sums up the results of 2021

The strategic priority of the International Children’s Center «Artek» is the innovative development of educational space for self-realization and development of talents of schoolchildren throughout the country. The projects implemented in 2021 year.

It was a super-task that Artek successfully completed, — said director Konstantin Fedorenko, summing up the results of the past year.

For 2021 a year, the International Children’s Center «Artek» accepted 2017 children from 85 subjects of the Russian Federation. In cooperation with 27 partners – representatives of federal departments, universities , the real sector of the economy, cultural and sports institutions – implemented 122 additional general developmental programs in six areas.

Throughout the year, Artek has been and continues to be actively working to ensure the safety of children. The positive experience of the center’s activities has made it possible to develop new regulations for the prevention of possible infection.

The safety of children has always been and remains one of the main priorities of Artek. The complex of implemented measures provides for a response to any possible threats. Protecting children from a new infection, without a doubt, is the most important task that we solve, using both our own experience and the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health of Russia, with which we always work in close cooperation , — notes Konstantin Fedorenko.

The Year of Science and Technology at the Children’s Center was dedicated to the science and scientific creativity of children and adolescents, future scientists and researchers. Thematic seminars and master classes, exhibitions and conferences, interactive lessons were held. The key event was the Art Science Festival on Science Day, 8 February. The participants of the festival were able to feel like «lords of lightning» at a Tesla show, create robots, launch models of drones created on a 3D printer, and travel through virtual worlds in a VR cinema. The organizers of the festival, together with Artek, were the partners of the children’s center: Startnauka LLC, Kurchatov Institute.

Bright events were dedicated to the 15 anniversary of the first manned flight into space. As part of the fourth shift 2021 of the year “We are children of the galaxy”, together with the State Corporation Roscosmos, the educational program “First Space Program” was implemented. The guys developed and designed spacecraft, satellites and systems, learned how to program them, looked for solutions to the “space debris” problem, modeled and launched rockets, trained their brain and body according to programs for real astronauts and studied what space professions exist.

The program of the finalists of the All-Russian contest «My Country — My Russia», one of the projects of the presidential platform «Russia — the Land of Opportunities», was dedicated to space. During a communication session with the International Space Station, the Artek residents talked to Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Petr Dubrov.

In different shifts, Artek met with the Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Sergei Zalyotin; Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Andrey Borisenko; test pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Pugachev; Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Valery Tokarev and other representatives of the space industry.

The street art “Artek is proud”, which was created by Artek residents near the Artek Arena, now reminds us of the space feat of our compatriots. It depicts five legendary personalities of world cosmonautics: Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Sergei Korolev, Yuri Gagarin, Alexei Leonov, Valentina Tereshkova. The painting inspires the younger generation to strive for the stars, to be the first in everything.

In the 2021 year, Artek became the venue for the Big Change, the largest competition for schoolchildren in Russia. The Children’s Center accepted 122 high school students and 85 schoolchildren of 5-7 grades. Master classes, motivational lectures and meetings with interesting and outstanding people were organized for all the finalists.

Last year, a program of specialized volunteer units was launched at the children’s center. Artek residents got acquainted with various areas of volunteering, held volunteer campaigns in camps and offered ideas for the development of a volunteer movement in the children’s center. On the eve of the New Year, Artek residents prepared gifts and congratulations on the holiday for Artek veterans, doctors from Crimean covid hospitals, and students from the Livadia boarding school. Children’s messages were delivered to the addressees by volunteer counselors.

Volunteerism is an important component of modern life. The International Children’s Center takes an active part in all-Russian and international volunteer campaigns. Helping people is an old tradition of Artek. By their example, counselors show children what responsibility to the older generation and society means. We are sure that many projects are implemented by children upon returning home, — says Konstantin Fedorenko.

In 2021 year, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, a federal project was successfully implemented to train advisers to school directors on educational work. The training program was developed by Artek together with the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education of the Russian Academy of Education, the Russian State Pedagogical University named after A.I. Herzen, the Russian movement of schoolchildren under the direct supervision of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of Russia.

During the year, the International Children’s Center actively carried out work on the transfer of Artek’s experience to the regions: the Governor’s Camp project was implemented, Artek was presented at the Moscow International Salon of Education, the All-Russian Conference Thematic Educational Programs. The ECO-Artek project was developed and successfully implemented, the final of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in literature was held.

Much has been done to restore cultural heritage sites — among the reconstructed objects is the monument to Ernst Neizvestny «Friendship of the Children of the World.» In addition, the Alley of Artek Heroes was replenished with new busts, the employees of the children’s center restored monuments of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the Republic of Crimea. The planned tasks were also completed in such areas as the accessible environment and the personnel of Artek.

With the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Inspirers project was implemented in the children’s center — lessons for pupils and young teachers of the children’s center were conducted by specialists who have achieved success in IT, digital communications, mechanical engineering, medicine, science, and creativity. Their goal is to show the younger generation the competitiveness of Russia through concrete examples and the deeds of people who have realized world-class achievements.

All schoolchildren who visited the children’s center, were able to touch the rich traditions of the children’s center, become involved in the history of Artek and Artek friendship.

From 2017 year, vouchers to the International Children’s Center «Artek» are distributed as a reward for achievements active children through the AIS «Putevka» based on an electronic portfolio. For 2017-900 years. 526 thousands of children from all over Russia are registered in the system. In 2021 year ICC «Artek» accepted 2017 children within the framework of 15 change. All the conditions for epidemiological safety have been created in Artek.
