The “10,000 Steps to Health” campaign is timed to coincide with World Heart Day and All-Russian Walking Day. On this day, the project brought together more than 100 Sevastopol residents and guests of the city at sites in all municipal districts of Sevastopol. People of different ages took part: students, schoolchildren, employees of various organizations and simply active citizens joined the “health routes”. Many came with families. Before the start, all participants received advice from specialists from the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, after which they took part in collective exercises.
In order to become an adherent of one of the simplest sports — walking, no special training is required. In general, it has a beneficial effect on health, maintaining muscle tone and normal functioning of the cardiovascular system. People who walk regularly suffer less from vascular disease,” the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Anna Malenko, a doctor at the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention.
The event is aimed at developing and popularizing natural healing methods and is held in accordance with the principle of “Best health at the lowest cost.” The program is based on WHO recommendations for an effective physical activity regimen. The goal of the program is to develop skills and knowledge that have a positive impact on a person’s health and performance.
In Sevastopol, the event was held within the framework of the regional projects “Strengthening Public Health” of the national project “Demography” and “Combating Cardiovascular Diseases” of the national project “Health”.
