The Alushta court will consider a criminal case regarding the death of a person during excavation work
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Alushta city prosecutor’s office approved a criminal indictment against a 53-year-old local resident. He is charged under Part 2 of Art. 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules when conducting other work, if this resulted in the death of a person through negligence).
According to investigators, in June of this year the man, being responsible for safety during the construction of a cottage community, supervised the excavation work to lay a sewerage system. Contrary to the requirements of the law, without ensuring safe working conditions, the accused sent a 37-year-old hired worker to the bottom of a pit more than 1 meter deep, which was not equipped with fortification structures. As a result of the collapse of the pit slope and rock slide, the victim was injured and died at the scene— reported the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.
With the approved indictment, the criminal case was sent to the Alushta City Court for consideration on the merits. The accused faces up to 5 years in prison.
