The best design for the medal “In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the return of Sevastopol to Russia” was selected
CrimeaPRESS reports:
At a meeting of the Sevastopol government chaired by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev on February 15, the results of the competition to develop a design for the medal “In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the return of Sevastopol to Russia” were summed up.
The competition took place from January 17 to 24. According to information from the director of the department of internal policy Sergei Bezdolny, the commission, which included Senator Ekaterina Altabaeva, deputy of the Legislative Assembly Tatyana Shcherbakova, chairman of the Public Chamber Alexander Troshev, director of the 35th Coastal Battery Valery Volodin, head of the self-defense headquarters in 2014 Oleg Roslyakov, honorary member of the All-Russian Heraldic Society, member of the regional headquarters of the ONF Valery Doroshko and Sevastopol historians, reviewed 42 applications. The youngest participant in the competition is 8 years old, the oldest is 78.
Based on the results of reviewing the works, the commission determined the winner of the competition. It was the teacher of the Sevastopol Children’s Art School, Marina Voronezhskaya.
The obverse of the medal depicts Nakhimov Square — the place where key events of 2014 took place: the People’s Will rally, the announcement of the referendum results, the announcement of the admission of Sevastopol and Crimea to Russia. On the reverse, the author placed the symbol of the Hero City, a monument to the Sunken Ships. Around the circle is a quote from the President: “Sevastopol is the patriotic capital of Russia.”
The best children’s work was also determined: its author is Anna Vyshegorodtseva, a student at the Sevastopol Children’s Art School.
It is very pleasant that many children took part in the competition: 20 applications were received from secondary schools, gymnasiums, and art schools. Some of the children are the same age as the Russian Spring. I believe that it is necessary to encourage everyone who submitted their work to the competitionsaid Mikhail Razvozhaev.
He instructed Sergei Bezdolny to work on the issue of rewarding the participants.
The final design of the medal will be sent to production. The medal will subsequently be awarded to participants in the events of the Russian Spring for their personal contribution to the return of the city of Sevastopol to Russia, the preparation and holding of the People’s Referendum, as well as for their significant contribution to the development of the city. Currently, regulations are being prepared that will list all categories of persons who will be nominated for the award and the procedure for presenting the medal.
