The Black Sea Fleet celebrated the 217th anniversary of the birth of Vice Admiral Kornilov

Solemn events were held in Sevastopol dedicated to the 217 anniversary of the birth of the hero of the Crimean War, Vice Admiral Vladimir Alekseevich Kornilov.
A solemn rally and memorial service were held in the Vladimir Cathedral — the tomb of admirals at the graves of Admiral M.P. Lazarev and the heroes of the First Defense of Sevastopol, Admirals P.S. Nakhimov, V.I. Istomin and V.A. Kornilov. Representatives of the command and crews of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet, city authorities, veterans and public organizations took part in the events, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.
A week of memory of the heroic admiral was timed to coincide with the memorable date in the Black Sea Fleet. Thematic expositions have been prepared in the Black Sea Fleet Museum and the Maritime Library, screenings of films dedicated to the history of the fleet and the Crimean War have been organized for personnel on ships and in parts.

The participants of the events honored the memory of the naval commander, who is a vivid example of selfless service to the Fatherland and loyalty to military duty.
