The Black Sea Fleet held an exercise to eliminate emergencies at a fuel storage facility

The Black Sea Fleet hosted an interspecific exercise to eliminate a simulated fire at a fuel and lubricants storage facility. The exercise was attended by operational headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of an emergency (ES) from the Black Sea Fleet (BSF), the government of Sevastopol, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russian Guard, and the Center for Disaster Medicine.

According to the press service of the Southern Military District, practical actions were worked out to alert, control forces, organize interaction with the city’s executive authorities and law enforcement agencies.

According to the scenario of the exercise, an interspecific operational headquarters was deployed to eliminate the consequences of an emergency, a meeting of the city commission for the elimination of emergencies and fire safety was held, which recognized the existence of a man-made emergency at the municipal response level and decided to introduce an emergency operation mode. Directly at the site of the exercise, combat areas for extinguishing a fire were created, foam attacks of burning fuel were carried out, protection of the neighboring group of fuel tanks with water barrels was carried out.

According to the input received, the liquidation of the consequences of explosions of fuel tanks, which led to an increase in the fire area, was worked out. Measures were taken to deploy medical posts and evacuate victims, to engineer reconnaissance and equipping barrier lines to prevent fuel spills, to assess the radiation, chemical and biological situation in the area, to cordon off the territory of emergency situations, to introduce an anti-terror regime and strengthen the protection of fleet facilities, to search and destruction of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groupsthe message says.

The exercise involved the personnel and equipment of the consolidated emergency response team, two fire brigades, units of the Black Sea Fleet engineering regiment, seven fire rescue units of Sevastopol, medical institutions of the city and fleet, communications units, NBC protection, military police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard .
