The Black Sea Fleet honored the memory of the sailors who died on the battleship Novorossiysk

Commemorative events were held in the Black Sea Fleet in connection with the 67 anniversary of the sinking of the battleship Novorossiysk in the Sevastopol Bay, which occurred 29 October 1955 year.
According to the press service of the Southern Military District, servicemen of the Black Sea Fleet, representatives of the clergy and veteran organizations took part in the mourning events, who held a rally-requiem at the Motherland to Sons memorial at the Memorial Fraternal Cemetery on the North Side of Sevastopol.
Accompanied by a guard of honor and a military band, wreaths and flowers were laid at the sculpture of the Sorrowful Sailor, the participants of the rally paid tribute to the memory of the dead crew members of the battleship and emergency parties from other ships, who selflessly fought for the survivability of the battleship Novorossiysk.
REFERENCE: on the night from 28 to October 1955, one of the largest catastrophes in the history of the Soviet Navy occurred. At 1 o’clock 31 minute, under the nose of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the battleship Novorossiysk, moored on barrels in the Sevastopol Bay, an explosion occurred, from the consequences of which the ship sank.
