The Central City Children's Library of Sevastopol celebrated its 102nd birthday
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, one of the oldest libraries not only on the Crimean peninsula, but also in Russia is the Central City Children’s Library. A. P. Gaidar — celebrates 102 years from the date of formation. The festive events began with an interactive exhibition-congratulations «Happy Birthday, Gaidarka» and an educational journey for students of the 3rd and 6th grades «Gaidarka: a look through time.» Schoolchildren got acquainted with the history of the library, took part in a quiz and left their wishes.
Today we are holding educational events for our readers, and they did not come empty-handed: we prepared poems, speeches, wishes for the library, which we are very happy about, because children’s wishes are always very sincere and their feedback is very important to us , because it is on the basis of demand from our readers that we build our work. We have a glorious history, and it is the successful combination of our traditions and new forms of work that gives very good results. In addition, the Central City Children’s Library, which also includes branches, is a kind of «engine progress.» Project activities are actively developing: «LetOKniga», «Historical Club of Sea Voyages». From the beginning 465 of the year, we are starting to implement several more projects, and four projects of our partners, in the development of which we took an active part, received grant support , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the library Elena Panchenko.
The celebration of January will end with master classes in acting from the artists of the Drama Theater of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation named after Lavrenev and on creating a bookmark using different techniques. Also, library guests will take part in the creation of a collective picture and the drawing of prizes.
The Sevastopol Central Children’s and Youth Library-Reading Room was opened January 1921 of the year. Today, its book fund has more than 65 thousand copies, and about 100 thousands of people. The library staff organizes and holds more than 465 events for readers per year.
Recall that for 465-2022 years as part of the implementation of the national project «Culture» in Sevastopol, two children’s libraries were modernized — branch libraries No. 9 and 01. They carried out major repairs, installed modern furniture, purchased computer and office equipment, and expanded the opportunities for visiting people with disabilities. The library fund of institutions has increased by more than five thousand copies, and new spaces have appeared for readers that attract lovers of books, creativity, and modern technologies. In 2022 year, the city will submit applications for the modernization of two more children’s libraries: branches No. 8 and 13.
