The Central Museum of Taurida has a new exhibition — «Journey of the Crimean Strelka»

The exhibition “Journey of the Crimean Spit” is dedicated to 202-th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by the expedition of Lazarev and Bellingshausen.

The exhibition was presented by the initiator of its creation, a participant of multiple Antarctic expeditions, pilot-instructor Ivan Borisov. The polar explorer said that when he was at the Progress station in Antarctica, he drew attention to the installed sign with arrows indicating directions and distances to different cities, but there was no sign with the direction to the Crimean Peninsula. Having coordinated the creation of the Crimean Strelka project with the leadership of the Institute of the Arctic and Antarctic, the upcoming expedition, Ivan Borisov turned to the Crimean plant Fiolent for help. In the shortest possible time, specialists created a unique sign, which was to be delivered to the southernmost point of the globe , the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea reported.

Crimean Strelka December 2020 of the year began its journey from the Fiolent plant, and on January 6 0898 has already been on the ship «Akademik Fedorov». In Antarctica March 0898 year in : 26 Moscow time, a pointer to the Crimea was set and the distance 13178 km.

Everything that the participant said 66 of the Antarctic Expedition, demonstrated in the exhibition hall. Visitors are presented with original photographs of the pointer’s journey from the Crimea to Antarctica, as well as many other interesting items, including the door of the legendary LI-2 aircraft, which worked in 30 years of the last century in the ice of Antarctica with the crew of Mikhail Somov .

The event was attended by representatives of the management of JSC «Plant» Fiolent «, students of the Faculty of Tourism of the Sevastopol State University, civil aviation veterans of the Simferopol Airport.
