The construction of a water supply route for Feodosia, Kerch and adjacent areas continues

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Crimea, the construction of a water supply route continues, which will ensure uninterrupted water supply to Feodosia, Kerch and adjacent settlements.

About 24 billion rubles have been allocated for the construction of the facility within the framework of the State program “Socio-economic development of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.” The total length of the water pipeline route of the two stages is 217.6 km, the second stage from NS-1 to Feodosia and Kerch. The estimated capacity of the main water pipeline is 195,000 m3/day. The first stage of construction started at the beginning of 2018. As part of the project, a supply pipeline was provided from the Nezhinsky, Prostornensky and Novogrigoryevsky water intakes to the discharge into the North Crimean Canal, where the water flowed out by gravity. This facility was put into operation at the beginning of 2021,” noted the press service of the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Crimea.

The second stage is currently being implemented, which involves the construction of three pumping stations (substages 2.1,2.2,2.3), providing the eastern part of the peninsula with household and drinking water. On the territory of each of the pumping stations there is a machine room and clean water reservoirs; at the pumping stations NS-1 and NS-3, in addition, there are ultraviolet water disinfection installations. Each facility in the cascade of pumping stations is equipped with modern monitoring and control systems.

6 pumps (4 working and 2 standby) with a capacity of 1 thousand cubic meters per hour each are installed in the machine rooms. Some of them are domestically produced, installed as part of import substitution.

The pumping station receives water from water intakes, which were built at the first stage in 2018, and pumps it through a cascade of pumping stations to the treatment plants of Kerch and Feodosia. Before entering homes, the water will pass through a tank for additional ultraviolet purification. This will completely remove risks for consumers.

Currently, the construction readiness of the second stage is:

  • substage 2.1 — 88%;
  • substage 2.2 — 93%;
  • substage 2.3 — 57%.

It is expected that construction and installation work on the water supply route will be completed in 2024, and commissioning is planned for the end of 2025.
