The court in Simferopol convicted the accomplice of telephone scammers

In Simferopol, the Kyiv District Court convicted a 31-year-old (previously convicted) resident of the Belogorsky District of committing two crimes under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The criminal case was investigated by the investigative department of police department No. 2 «Kievskiy» of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol, the investigation collected exhaustive evidence.
The investigation and the court established that the defendant came to the addresses of the victims (elderly people), where he took money in the amount of 150,000 to 873,290 rubles and transferred them to the indicated accounts, leaving for himself, by agreement, part of the stolen money as earnings, after the victims received calls on landline phones from unknown persons who presented themselves as their relatives, and then as law enforcement officers. They, reporting deliberately false information about bringing close relatives of the victims to criminal responsibility for the accident, promised to stop the criminal prosecution after paying the money— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
Two residents of Simferopol were recognized as victims in the case, who suffered damage totaling more than a million rubles.
The court passed a guilty verdict, the man was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison in a strict regime correctional colony. The verdict did not enter into force.
