The Crimean national team won a dozen medals at the Southern Federal District championship in Greco-Roman wrestling among youths

The Crimean team won 12 medals at the Southern Federal District championship in Greco-Roman wrestling among boys under 18 years old (athletes (2007-2009). The competitions on January 22-24 were held in Rostov-on-Don on the basis of the Olympic School (college) reserve.

The winners of the championship in their weight categories were residents of Simferopol Ismail Balbek (up to 42 kg, coaches — Sergey Popenkov and Evgeny Plutitsky) and Alushta resident Roman Tokarev (up to 80 kg, coaches – Konstantin Mokridi and Sergey Solodky).

Simferopol residents climbed to the silver step of the podium Vladimir Ganaga (up to 42 kg) and Vadim Turkov (up to 92 kg), both train under the guidance of Sergei Popenkov and Evgeniy Plutitsky, Sudak resident Kurtseit Abduramanov (up to 60 kg, coach – Settar Abdulganiev), Alexander Aleikin from Petrovka, Krasnogvardeisky district (up to 80 kg, coaches — Alexander Ponomarev, Oleg Boyko and Grigory Olinchuk) and Mikhail Volosach from Kuibyshevo, Bakhchisaray district (up to 120 kg, coach — Lenur Mamedov).

Return home with bronze Alexander Babenko (up to 51 kg) and Nikita Tarasenko (up to 60 kg) from Maryanovka, Krasnogvardeisky district (coach — Albert Plishakov), Daniil Oreshkin from Petrovka, Krasnogvardeisky district (up to 55 kg, coaches — Alexander Ponomarev, Oleg Boyko and Grigory Olinchuk), as well as students of the KSP UOR Mikhail Gorenko (up to 65 kg, trainers — Albert Plishakov and Enver Useinov) and Magamedrasul Gadzhiev (up to 120 kg, coach – Enver Useinov).

Simferopol residents stopped a step away from the podium (took fifth place) Alexander Arbuzov (up to 42 kg) and Emir Islyamov (up to 51 kg), as well as Sevastopol residents Egor Shchitkovets (up to 60 kg) and Stepan Yuryev (up to 120 kg).

In total, the competitions in Rostov-on-Don, which were qualifying for the Russian championship, brought together 205 wrestlers from Crimea, Kalmykia, Adygea, Krasnodar Territory, Sevastopol, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions.

All winners and prize-winners of the competition received tickets to the Russian Championship, which will be held in Vladivostok on March 6-10.
